Janine is a professionally accredited Transformational Coach and qualified counsellor, with a PhD in life story research. Her experiences as a sport sociologist and life story researcher have given her a unique set of tools to understand the impact of a person's life story on the decisions they make in the present day.
Having grown up in Sligo, a beautiful seaside town on the north-west of Ireland, Janine has always loved big skies and wild weather! She studied her MSc in Applied Human Science at St Mary’s University London before completing a Doctorate degree from the University of Southampton. She also holds many vocational diplomas including a BACP Counselling certificate.
Her 20 years' experience as a personal and academic tutor whilst lecturing at university combined with an expertise in narrative coaching help you create the life you imagine and get a renewed sense of self by letting go of blocks from your past and achieving your desired future.

Janine promotes the power of coaching for organisations with The Wellbeing Advantage, co-founded with her husband Dr Ken van Someren, which combines over two decades of corporate leadership, academic insight and coaching expertise.
One client described the coaching process as "peeling away the layers and getting to the heart of things. And it is freeing to my mind, making me feel free and fresher and I guess it comes back to changing the narrative, you don't have to have that same story."
